The Swedish Technique

Creating natural looking extensions is a true art form. To establish gorgeous extension styles, star stylist and extension expert Lisha Coleman focuses on making these designs look as natural as possible. "We have seven techniques and none of them include cornrows, braids or glue," she shares, of the methods she teaches at The Coleman Institute of Hair Extension Technology in Hollywood, CA (now in Houston and Hollywood).

Coleman's latest extension method, The Swedish Technique, is designed for women with naturally fine hair. "The Swedish Technique is fabulous, flat, smooth hair," the mane pro details. "Good candidates for this are people with relaxed or Natural hair who really want a bone-straight look."

This technique utilizes a single thread base. "We use a micro-thin weft so there is no foundation like with a cornrow or a braid," Coleman reveals.

Coleman demonstrates the powerful effect of her new methodon model/actress/dancer Marsha Douglas. For more information on the Swedish Technique, visit www.lisha.com or call The Coleman Institute of Hair Extension Technology in Hollywood, CA (now also in Houston) at 281-825-1600.

Women who once suffered with fine, lifeless hair that would grow past their shoulders can now have long, sexy, fuller hair with plenty of body and bounce, thanks to celebrity hairdresser and make-up artist, Lisha Coleman, who has developed the Swedish Technique so women with naturally fine hair can enjoy hair extensions.

In the past, braids, cornrows, or glue were never foundations for extensions - none of which are suitable for fine hair, where the point of attachment must be minimal. The Swedish Technique eliminates the need for bulky braided tracks and the damaging effect of glue. With it's single thread base, the Swedish Technique is flat and smooth, creating an extremely natural look.

Lisha's passion for finding hair extensions solutions for all hair types led her to this brilliant technique, inspired by Sweden's fine-haired women. The technique can be used on all hair types, but Lisha has been battling the colour line since she began her career in New York 20 years ago. "African-American stylists need to understand that there is a great market out there in the Caucasion community and Caucasions need to understand that the methods I and other stylists practise are not just for African-American people.

"As hair extensions become more and more popular the world over, Caucasion women are frequently the people most in need of our services," she says.

Lisha Coleman began her career on Broadway in New York as a hair and make-up artist. She then moved to Miami to work on Miami Vice, then on to Los Angeles, where some of her clients now include Janet Jackson, Shari Belafonte, Laila Ali, Pamela Anderson and Nicole Kidman.

Students come from across the globe to learn Lisha's techniques. Through the Coleman Institute of Hair Extension Technology in Los Angeles, the Swedish Technique has been released on DVD for stylists wanting to learn this new extension method. The DVD contains a behind-the-scenes look at Lisha creating extensions on the set of Shari Belafonte's photo shoot in Playboy magazine.

Lisha also teaches her award-winning techniques to stylists around the U.S.
With private classes in Detroit, Toronto and New York, Lisha's vast
network of students just keeps growing.
